Translation: Dangerous Curves
Curvas Peligrosas
Curvas Peligrosas
Interpretation(s): Baja 1 is filled with dangerous curves, the type of curves that the driver cannot see the road ahead because it disappears beyond a cliff or drops out of sight. While rounding them, the inherent goal of the driver is to hit the curves with optimum velocity. Not so slow as to encourage aggressive tailgating/blind curve passing, but also not so fast as to let the g-force swing the vehicle into oncoming traffic. The key to this technique is anticipation, planning ahead and preparing. To have a plan of action allows you to better react to the change it as long as you plan for the unanticipated. It is akin to rounding an exposed point in a sea kayak and being unable to see beyond it. While driving I have noticed that there is no correlation between curves marked dangerous and unmarked curves...often the most dangerous are the ones that are not marked. The same could be said for unanticipated hazards.

Cultivate your curves - they may be dangerous but they won't be avoided.
